Construction Management Consulting were engaged by the Main Contractor, ISG Jackson to provide the full scope of onsite commercial services on the construction of a new build swimming and diving centre; Garon’s Pool in Southend for Southend Borough Council.
The project comprises of 3 pools which are being formed using contiguous piling and heavily reinforced concrete. The dive pool itself has a complex and architectural dive tower with the top level at 10m. This pool also has a movable floor to ensure full versatility of use, and when complete will be the deepest in Europe.
Due to the project being contracted on a Standard Building Contract and the specialist nature of the project this presented the need for a strong team of quantity surveyors, dealing with SMM7 re-measurement of bills, and the pricing of drawing changes as the design developed at a tremendous pace during the early stages.
Currently the project remains on budget and programme.
